Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Ham Lab has no accounts, no sign-in, and no passwords. Create a profile for each person studying on the device and everyone keeps their own progress.

Where is my study data stored?

Entirely on your device. Ham Lab never sends your data anywhere — see our privacy policy. This also means progress does not sync between devices.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a profile from the profile screen to remove that student’s progress, or delete the app to remove everything.

Why don’t I see the AI coach?

The coach runs on Apple Intelligence, which requires a supported device with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings. On other devices, Ham Lab’s built-in explanations — one for every question — carry the load.

Which question pools does Ham Lab use?

The official NCVEC pools: Technician 2026–2030, General 2023–2027, and Amateur Extra 2024–2028. When NCVEC rotates a pool, we’ll ship an update — and your progress carries over.

Does passing a practice exam license me?

Not yet! You’ll need to pass the real exam with a Volunteer Examiner team. Find a session near you through your local radio club or the exam-session search tools offered by VEC organizations.

Ham Lab is published by AdamOnAI. Ham Lab is not affiliated with the FCC or NCVEC. Question pools are public documents published by NCVEC.

Ham Lab Privacy Policy

Effective July 19, 2026

The short version: Ham Lab collects no data. None of your information ever leaves your device.

What we collect

Nothing. Ham Lab has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. The app contains no networking code and does not connect to the internet.

Where your study data lives

Your profiles, study progress, and exam history are stored only on your device, in the app’s private storage. We cannot see this data — no one can, other than the people who use your device. Because nothing is stored on a server, your data does not sync or transfer between devices.

The AI coach

On devices that support Apple Intelligence, Ham Lab’s coaching feature uses Apple’s on-device language model. All processing happens locally on your device; your questions and answers are not sent to Apple, AdamOnAI, or anyone else.

Children

Ham Lab is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects no personal information from children.

Deleting your data

Delete a profile inside the app to remove that student’s data, or delete the app to remove everything. Because we hold no copies, deletion on your device is complete and permanent.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Ham Lab ever changes how data is handled, we will update this policy and note the change in the app’s release notes before the change takes effect.
